Author, Alexei Maxim Russell
Yesterday, I came home to a surprise in my mailbox, my dear friend Alexei had sent me his book TRUEMAN BRADLEY - Aspie Detective.

Alexei is from Winnipeg, Canada and we first met via 'facebook.' He has this mysterious way about him, the kind of thing that makes one a good writer. He is handsome, intelligent, kind, wise and he is my friend.

I am proud of all your effort. I am proud you saw it through. But most of all, Alexei, I am proud of you - just being you.

Thank you for my inscribed copy of
TRUEMAN BRADLEY - Aspie Detective.
I will read it and treasure it.

Christmas 2011

Elena, Alejandro and Sandra Lopez
Have you ever been so busy in a five day span that it is difficult to know when things took place, because the day turns into the night and the night into the morning and it starts all over again? That is how my trip to Alabama was for me. We slept two or three hours within any 24 hour period and our adrenalin kept us going the rest of the day. Once again, my thoughts went to comedian Katt Williams and how 'Spanish People's' parties last three and a half months. We may not have actually partied three and a half months, but it definitely felt like we did. And I loved every minute of it!

Mary Did You Know?

Mary Did You Know?

[Originally written by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene]

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

Oh, Mary did you know...Ooo Ooo Ooo

The blind will see.
The deaf will hear.
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap.
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you're holding is the Great, I Am.

I pray this will bless you, as it has me.
This is one of my favorite songs.

5 Days in Dixie

5 Days in Dixie
I am all packed, gifts are wrapped and about to head to Birmingham, Alabama. I will be spending the Christmas Holidays with my brother Alejandro and my sister Sandra. Alejandro arrived in Birmingham last night, but I had to wait till today to leave.

All I could get out of my siblings, my brother-in-law Beto and a few others was, 'There will be a BIG Party in my honor.' It seems there are people there who have yet to meet me and want to. Imagine that! I love making new acquaintances and all that implies.

When I was told about a 'BIG Party' all I could think of was Katt Williams and his skit on Comedy Central. It was about "Spanish People" and how they party for three and a half months. It made me laugh.

I will do a BLOG on my time in Dixie, after Christmas. I will post a few photos of us, too. As always, I respect others by obtaining their consent on any photos I publish - via my blog. All my photos this month have been near my front door, because of all the unwrapped gifts strewn about.

Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first. The birth of the baby Jesus stands as the most significant event in all history, because it has meant the pouring into a sick world of the healing medicine of love which has transformed all manner of hearts for two thousand years...Underneath all the bulging bundles is this beating Christmas heart.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas The Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On Cupid! On, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Angels We Have Heard On High

Angels we have heard on high...
...ever thought of the various traditional symbols of Christmas? Santa, the spirit of generosity and giving, oftentimes, paralleling the wise men who brought gifts. And, what about the beautiful Christmas Tree? - branches reaching upward with the top of the tree pointing toward Heaven; and crowned with a STAR! And we cannot forget the angels who sang of the birth of Jesus...I know that most of us look forward to hearing Christmas Cantata's at our churches and music proclaiming Christ's birth! We have one week left before Christmas Day...it is not OUR birthday! Let's watch our stress levels and pocketbooks and try to celebrate the birth of Christ this year, like no other Christmas! It is His birthday, and it is the start of our redemption journey! I love you! You are NOT alone this Holiday Season. Try to relax and breathe into the reason we celebrate. I am going to! - Merry Christmas

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing ore the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Christmas Shopping

Christmas Shopping at Belk
I am someone who can multitask and usually come out making things look easy, but it is not always that way. I like to shop, but only when done leisurely. Christmas shopping is all hustle and bustle. I was shopping, scheduling dinner, writing my list and checking it twice.

I love the celebration of Christmas, and it's meaning to me as a Christian, far more than the tinsel and packages and ribbons. My heart and eyes will always be on the true reason of the season - Jesus Christ.

“And there were in the same country Shepards abiding in
the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the
angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone
round about them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said
unto them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you tidings of great
joy which will be to all people. For unto you is born this day in
the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this
shall be a sign unto you. Ye shall find the babe wrapped in
swaddling clothes lying in the manger." And suddenly, there was
with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and
saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good
will toward men."

Secret Santa

Secret Santa
As a child I believed in Santa Claus, and the innocence of it all made for a magical time. I was shy and timid when sitting on Santa's lap and could never think of anything to ask for, except for a Barbie Doll®. I still have every doll I was ever given, and all the accessories, too. I will never willingly part with them, because each one holds a special memory. The beauty of my collection is many are from other countries and are of different races. Santa always remembered my request.

Today, I played Secret Santa to a child that is not as fortunate as I was. A Christmas party for 50 children is exciting! I was as excited as the children. Their smiles made my day and their hugs made my year! Santa was there to hand out the gifts, so I guess I was more like an elf; Santa's helper?

Everyone was on a sugar high, with cupcakes and cookies decorated in Christmas themes. There were Christmas stockings filled with candy canes and Hershey Kisses® in silver, red and green. I had a few myself. There was 'real food' too, but like all children, the Christmas stockings was where it was at.
The halls were decked and the trees were lit. I am so happy I was part of it.

In every community there are churches and organizations that allow us to make a child's Christmas all the merrier. The food banks and the food kitchens need donations, so everyone can have Christmas dinner. If you do not have the money - give your time. If you do not have the time - give money. Money is not everything, but it is essential. If I can make the time, then most of all of you can, too. I promise, the rewards exceeds some of our greatest expectations.

Ho Ho Ho - Merry Christmas!
Bikers do so much for our community.

Fruitcake Cookies

Off To Grandmother's House I Go!
My Grandmother was never one to bake, but she loved Mrs. Culpepper's Christmas Fruitcake. Before Mrs. Culpepper passed away, she had given my Grandmother her famed Christmas Fruitcake recipe, in the mid 1970's. My Mom and her siblings never cared for fruitcake of any kind, until my Mom discovered a Fruitcake Cookie recipe and decided to make them for a Christmas party she was hosting.

My brother is twelve years my senior and was taught that these Fruitcake Cookies were 'Santa Cookies' and that eggnog was 'Santa's Milk.' The tradition did not stop there and she past it onto me. I do not have children, but were I to ever have children, I most likely would keep this tradition going. If you have yet to learn, I am big on TRADITION!

The funny thing is; I do not like fruitcake nor eggnog, but I keep it around during the Christmas Holiday. Today, I made my Mom's Fruitcake Cookies and will head over to my Grandmother's early this evening, before heading to a Christmas party. I have gained 5 lbs from all the Christmas parties I have attended. People often ask me, "Why are you always dieting?" Well - This is why I am always dieting. It is difficult to attend an event or party that offers a buffet of food and not eat. How can I pass up a cocktail weenie? Or a meatball? And that cheese ball? You all know what I mean. Christmas parties are like a 'never ending pasta bowl at the Olive Garden.' One just takes a long nap between courses.

Anyway, I am about to head out on this cold evening and visit my Grandmother and my Mom and then head to the Christmas party. While we are in the midst of all these Christmas parties, we need to remember "The Reason for the Season - Jesus Christ."

Praying for all of you and know that you are loved.
Peace and Joy!

I made and baked 72 Fruitcake Cookies
This is the only plate of cookies I have leftover.
I filled several Christmas themed tins with my Fruitcake Cookies as gifts.
This one is for my Grandmother.
I should have put a green Christmas bow in my hair.
Six more days till I have my hair cut! Hurry up!

My New Friend Ruby

My New Friend 'Ruby'
I have had a great time with my new friend 'Ruby' - She is likes going as much as I do. And we both have more in common than wearing 'red!' We are sort of cut from the same cloth. We are both representatives for Toyota. We like to style and profile and make a perfect match.

Have you ever had one of those days that kept going and going, and looking back, have you ever wondered how on earth you were able to do so much within a day? Today was like that for me. I have been all over this city and spoken to so many people I feel exhausted! But even in this tired state I am in, I must say it has been an exciting day! Each day that is passing is getting closer to CHRISTmas!

The Christmas Season is officially upon us! So much to do...everything from balancing family and holiday guests, maintaining and honoring traditions, staying on top of things at the office or running a household, holiday church activities and the need to help others and show the love of God to those in despair.

 I am grateful for the love that so many of you show to me and others, daily...you are truly, a gift. Thank you. I pray that we will all practice more self-reflection during this beautiful season of HOPE. So many of us desperately are screaming for just that - HOPE!
I love you and I am covering you in prayer.
Peace.

I wrapped up the evening attending the Delta Waterfowl 'Christmas with the Ducks!' at the Frank Cochran Center - December 8, 2011.

I think I knew every person in that place and have never hunted a day in my life - especially DUCKS! I feed the DUCKS! I have chased the DUCKS! But I have NEVER hunted the DUCKS! Other than that, I had a great time and ate till I could eat no more and participated in the auction and raffle. I knew practically every law enforcement officer in Meridian and Lauderdale County who attended. In fact, I knew practically every living soul attending that event! It was AWESOME!

I had no idea so many people, I knew, were into the Delta Waterfowl 'Vision' -
To secure the future of waterfowl and waterfowl hunting.

Life is GOOD!

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
